we rolled up to the berkeley church on may 27th expecting to enjoy a typical (albeit high profile) charity fashion show. designer threads, pretty cocktails, a celebrity sighting or two perhaps…

we had no idea what we were in for.

stars mugging for the media circus in a posh garden; throngs of fashionistas sporting summery, skin-baring frocks; supermodels stomping down a runway to the beats of international djs in the middle of a 139-year-old church that had been transformed into one of the coolest event venues we’ve ever seen.

it became clear as soon as we stepped past the velvet ropes that this was no run-of-the-mill spring fashion event. strut for a cure was a straight up canadian fashion über fete!

organized by toronto born, B.C. raised supermodel, coco rocha one of canada’s finest and most notorious fashion exports. this event brought together more than 1000 of toronto’s most stylish to enjoy an evening of entertainment, dancing, cocktails, food, and fashion for a good cause: one hundred per cent of the event’s proceeds were donated directly to coast to coast against cancer.

with a crowd dressed to nines in “fashion forward – party ready” attire, just like the dress code specified, the models certainly weren’t the only ones strutting their stuff.

the oh-so-lovely coco has proven time and again that she’s not just a pretty face. she’s as sweet as she is smart – and on this night she proved that she can throw one hell of a party, too.

featuring heavy-hitters like canadian fashion icon jeanne beker, designer todd lynn and electropop cuties dragonette, it was pretty much the soiree of the season. or at least the weekend.
