hey! so today im going to take you though an average day of filming a “mattg124” youtube video. it is a very delicate and complicated process (not).
so come with me as i take you on a whirlwind adventure of the behind the scenes day of filming “dare mattg 8” dun dun dunnnn (epic music)
so a typical day of filming usually starts around 2 or 3 for me, but on this day i started filming around 7 because i slept in and wasn’t feeling well. the first thing i do to get ready is do my hair like a man… all manly and stuff. while doing this i usually shout at my self in the mirror and give my self some kind of manly sports pep talk for not sports.
once that is all good and done i set up my camera and lights. when shooting a “dare mattg” i usually set up one soft box behind the camera to light me and another in the background to light my living room. i don’t think i invented this technique but i am going to claim i did.
anyways i do this because i like the way it looks after i’ve colour corrected it. i’ve learned that you should always film a video with a look in mind and lighting is always important to get that look right!
the next thing i do is take 15 minutes to catch up on youtube, drink a beverage which could be anything from some sort of cola to a certain vitamin infused h2o
.
but this day it was an energy drink because I was feeling a little fatigued. (side note.. i will never clean my desk). watching some youtube videos usually puts me in the mood to film and gets me pretty energetic.
and now i’m ready to film and do some awesome dares! so when i’m filming a “dare mattg” i like to try and film all of the dares and questions first then film me doing the actual dares just for continuity’s sake. then i don’t have to move the camera and keep trying to get it back in the same darn position every time. it makes sense up in my head!
so i film some dares
and some more dares
and then my fridge turned on and started making some noise that i hate… yeah you know the sound. i suppose it’s a good idea when you film to turn your fridge down or even just off as long as you remember to turn it back on again.. or else you’re going to end up with some bad milk and nasty veggies in the morning. take my word for it!
so after all the filming, i finally finished around 11 pm with taking a few breaks in between. this is the mess im left with. i see a lot of comments on my videos talking about how messy my apartment must be and what a pain cleaning up everything is and i’d just like to say it’s usually not that bad – i just clean as i film, but any mess is usually worth it because i just plain old enjoy making videos for youtube!
i really hope you have enjoyed this look into my filming process and that you maybe learn a few tips and tricks!
